Dope paint job!

Justin at Liquid Tones just finished painting my frame, and it's insane! Thought I'd run a rasta theme to keep things different haha. So stoked to be working with him getting some amazing jobs done. He will be at nationals this weekend if you want to ask him about getting a frame, helmet or anything done, he's the man to go to! My frame was fairly beat up with chips and normal wear and tear, but he has managed to get it looking near new again! Can't wait to build it up, it's gonna be sswweeeeeeeeeeet

New Shoes

I decided it was time for a shoe upgrade, and to do it properly. So I got some of the Shimano custom fit shoes, that actually get heated in an oven, then put into a suction bag on your foot which molds it to the shape of your feet! Crazy stuff.

So happy with how the bike turned out, got some 20-Mil forks/wheels so its gonna be an interesting move. I'm getting my old frame painted up, so watch this space, its gonna be so amazing! Also I'm working on some tee's which are really close to production! exciting stuff.

Auckland HP camp + Canberra

I spend the last few days in Auckland at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Heath to do testing and get some decent riding in before the Canberra race. The riding we got in at North Harbour track was so good, I love that track and always have a fun time riding it. Trent Jones put out a sweet edit as well.
We made our way to Canberra, all knowing what the weather forecast was saying, but tried to stay as positive as we could. As we arrived into Sydney, pouring rain. Then the 4 hour car ride to Canberra non stop hard rain. We got to the motel around 10ish and went straight to bed, with it still raining quite hard. We woke up to it still raining and got the word that racing for the ACT titles has been canceled. Whereas the UCI part of the weekend is still on and a call was to be made by the UCI guy who would assess the track. We went to the track ourselves, and the river next to the track had completely covered the car park at the track, and further flood warnings and bad weather warnings were in place. With this known, the possibility for the race being canceled is quite high, and if it is on, would be a mud session and not what we really want to get out of this trip.
Luckily we had a plan B. We made the decision to go Brisbane straight away. We got flights to Brisbane, and booking the Sleeman Supercross track. The weather forecast over the weekend is highs of 30 and sunny, so this for us is going to be very beneficial and not a waste of money and trip. So that's what's up at the moment, all a crazy ride but stoked I'm still getting something beneficial out of this

Cambridge UCI

I went into this race with no expectations. I was training right through and got a gym session in on the Friday before. It ended up being a really good weekend, both riding and weather wise. I got some well needed race experience and finished 3rd on the Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Overall an alright weekend, and got me in a good space for Canberra at the end of the month!

Nerang 2012

I made a really big decision towards the end of last year to do the Nerang Race, which has a history of being wet and horrible (which I experienced in 09.) So I went over expecting the worst and prepping myself in case the rain hits, but for the first time for about 6 years there was not a drop of rain, and the weather was perfect just insanely humid.
For me this would be my first time racing a full field of Elites so I took it as challenge and had no real expectations, just to do the best I could do. The track was a fun track, nothing to hard with a tech last two straights of rhythm sections. I had the track on lock for race day on the Friday night. Managed to qualify through motos in 2nd and got 3rd pick for Quarter finals. I had a reasonable gate, but the rider next me got loose and my front wheel got stuck and that was me done. I ended up loosing 10 or more spokes, but we found a guy there who could fix it and ended getting it back for the next day, which was real lucky for me.
On Saturday was my best day of riding plus a bit of luck on my side. I qualified 1st through my motos and got a good run on my quarter getting through to semi finals. I had lane 6 for the Semi so I knew i need a good gate. I got my best gate of the day and managed to get 3rd into the main. I was pretty stoked about that. In the final I had an outside lane again and had nothing more to give and finished 6th, and for me a really big result and good to show that the training I'm doing is paying off.
By Sunday my body was so beat up, it was hard to get up in the morning that's for sure. I was still in the zone and made the quarter finals and somehow managed to slide out on the corner in 2nd, which was disappointing.
Overall though It was a good weekend and I picked up a hell of a lot of confidence and motivation to train that much harder.

North Island Champs - Gisborne

Wow, what a weekend. Weather held out to make riding conditions amazing and track was in the best condition ever, probably the best surfaced track I have ever ridden on! It ended up being one of the funnest weekend of racing ive ever had with a good bunch of people that came down. I finished 3rd both days and had a lot of fun riding over the entire weekend. Got a load of photos i will put on.

Sick weekend riding and racing with a good group of riders. It was a bit windy but overall it was a a really fun time. Borrowed a go pro and got some footage of pro section which looks really cool as well, and apparently you can't run them in a race ? Was told I'd be disqualified if I ran it. Sometimes just seems like so much rules and just for a regional race, they just need to chill out a bit and have a good time.
Track was so good, it was pretty close to how smooth Copenhagen worlds was! Norths are gonna be sick.

Gisborne Track Mods

Spent the last few weeks working on the track here, and complete re shape of the pro set. It is definitely a pro set that scares the hell out of me still! Managed to get them pretty sweeeeet after they dried off. I got a vid of the first day I was jumping it as well. I'm so excited to ride now, bought a whole new level of motivation and excitement to my riding.
