Chula Vista 04/26/2010
We rode Chula Vista SX track this weekend, it was my first time ever on a Supercross start hill. I was so scared my first time jumping first jump, took me a bit to get calm but then got it sweeeeett first go so I was pretty happy with that. First jump looks pretty dam big with total gap but was really easy, was so much fun! At Chula it is really windy because its quite open so you have to either ride really early or really late in afternoon. On the Saturday we had a sick day with blue skys, no wind and track to ourselves! Got the track sorted and it is by far far faaaaar the best track I have ever ridden, it flows so goood and super smooth. On the Monday we got to ride again early in the morning but with the American Team thats going to Copenhagen, So I was riding with Donny Robinson, Sam Willoughby, Denzel Stein, Nic Long just to name a few, So I wasnt just riding on the best track in the world, I was also riding with some of the best riders in the world too! By the end of each session I was shaking with adrenalin for about 2hours.. so much fun. American Olympic training center is crazy! Everything for training is all there, A Supercross track, Amateur track, Gym, Flat road, Downhill road, Rooms and food. That would be a great life. Have been having so much fun so far, ridden some tracks I have dreamed of riding and now have ridden and conquered. So amped and find it so hard just to sleep because im so pumped haha. Lifes good and im feeling so good! Today is our last day in Chula Vista, Driving back to LA and going to stage 2 of the trip to Perugia, Italy to race in rounds 3&4 of euro rounds, its going to be some sick riding happening On Sunday we had a rest day so we went to Pacific beach and rode on the boardwalk and had lunch at sushi place, was good time. 1 Comment AMERICA! 04/21/2010
So alot has changed since last time.. Europe was a no and Ken managed to get us in Chula Vista and to ride on the SX track, so huge thanks to him and the support crew for sorting that out! Flight was pretty good, got 4 seats to my self and got to sleep alot of the time can't remember much. It was my first ever long distance flight.. Wasn't to bad. America is crazy, it like everything is on steroids, everyone is loud, toilets are weird, everyone has fancy cars, money is different and driving on other side of road just trips me out hhahahaha good times... Wireless is super slow, i deleted my day1 and 2 updates by mistake its 11pm and im pretty much f@#d. Just have day 3 update and il suss some shit out later. Day 3 We woke up today, felt like shit still but went to iHop for breakfast. felt good after breakfast. We went to the local gym today and there was ALOT of mexicans who were tatted up an making loud noises haha. Gyms here are alot different to the gyms in nz.. Well the people haha. We got lunch at souplanet (all you can eat saladbar thing).Drove to Lake Perris, did some sprints in the rain.. Yusssss. Rode the Peris track and Maris Strombergs and free agent co were all there. Had some good gates until the rain kicked in and then didn't look like it was going to stop too so left it there. Mike and Pickard were amping for sushi so we went to all an you can eat sushi bar, i'm not a sushi fan and can't use chopsticks so was a fail for me haha water was nice though. We are able to ride the Chula SX track tommorow if rain stops... Hope for the best. What the hell has the weather been up too here? Was super cold today had to wear beanie and long pants.. Snow on the mountains.. Volcano is making some wierd shit happen, oh well adds to the fun. Peace, Il try take more touristy photos like Mikey haha. HP camp and EUROPE! 04/15/2010
Had another awesome time at the last High Performance camp. Ended up doing spastic movements in the air when Berm jump ramp was moved out. Got random drug tested.. not alot of fun doing those. Good times... haha. I have been getting photos for the Gisborne and doing some interviews, so will be in the paper again for all of you who are sick of seeing me paper :P I am in the HP team travelling to Europe. We will be training with the Dutch team, Racing in one of the Dutch National rounds in Holland, Racing round 3&4 of the Euro rounds in Perugia, Italy and racing my first Supercross World Cup round in Copenhagen, Denmark. This will be my first actuall overseas trip and is going to be crazy to say the least. It will be an amazing experience and can't wait! Our new Kit arrived and it looks so sick, alot better than last years and has matching pants! Flight was meant to leave today but a Volcano has erupted in Iceland. Its not everyday a Volcano erupts, and on the day we fly out. Oh well let all the bad luck hit us now and be good for Europe :) Next flight could be tomorow or day after or day after that....... I can sense econmy class seats are going to be packed haha. Bring on the billion hour flight! Im going to have alot of spare time so this will most likely be getting alot of updates 2010 Puni Nationals 04/13/2010
Been a while since I have updated this and alot of stuff has been happened. I'll start off with Nats. This was my first year of Junior men at nationals, and the first year a berm jump has been in New Zealand. My family and I drove up the weekend before so I could get some riding done, as the berm jump was sketching me out a bit still from my crash on it haha. Drove back to Gisborne to catch up on my schoolwork to get it all sorted and then flew up early Wednesday morning. We were staying in a Caravan Park at the track and it was pretty epic. Practice was on the Friday and still felt a bit sketch on the corner jump. Did it good a few times and felt real good about. Got the track sussed and was feeling super confident for Racing. Saturday- Felt good was a slight headwind on the Corner jump but did it fine. Got 3 firsts in Heats so started off really well. Once finals came I ended up with outside lane (again, UCI definitely doesn't like me haha). I had to have a super quick gate to get out first. Powerhouse got a good gate and was first to the corner with me and Trent battling around first turn, My foot got stuck somehow in his bike and made my foot blow off the people and he ate shit on the corner. Didn't do the berm jump and got DNF along with everyone else but 1. There was a Rerun. Rerun wasn't my best race, I tried to focus my best but ended up 3rd behind Trent and Daniel. Was pretty dissapointed but that's racing. Sunday- A much better day for me, it was superclass (open16+). There was two full gates which made for some good racing. Finshed the 3 qualifiers with three 3rds so made the final. First final hit the gate did inside bomb and worked out well and ended up 3rd. 2nd final stomped my foot into the ground and killed my foot and got 8th. 3rd final I had to just tighten my shoe up super tight and amp up on red bull and energy sachet things haha. It worked plus with a bit of luck and ended up 2nd. I gave me 3rd overall which got me so stoked. Good way to finish the weekend. Prize giving I won Sportsman of the Year, 2nd in Elite Cruiser, 3rd Jnr Men 20, 3rd 16+ male and $310 so not such a bad weekend at all. Overall I had so much fun riding, the track was sick and weather was amazing! Big congrats to SCW club, I didn't think it was going to be complete by then but it was and was the best nationals so far! | Nick Fox
